2023 Presidency: I won’t waste my time in probing anybody if elected- Peter Obi

The presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi has spoken on probing past governments if elected President in 2023.

Speaking in a statement on Friday, he said that he would not waste his time to probe the activities of previous administrations, adding that for a leader to succeed, he has to look forward.

He made this statement while interacting with journalists shortly after announcing Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed as his running mate on Friday ahead of 2023 presidential election.

Citing an example, he said that it is not good for a shop owner to close his shop and be chasing thieves.

He said: “As for probing the past government, let me tell you: you see me argue that you can’t close your shop and be chasing thieves those who only look at yesterday and today will miss tomorrow. God did not give us eyes at the back, mine is to look forward.

The former Governor of Anambra State stated that he wouldn’t be part of people that would be witch-hunting other people for political reasons.

He said: “If you come into the government today and decide to stop the leakage first, you will get more. I am not going to be part of any form of victimisation or witch-hunt, it won’t happen. Nigerians must live within law and order.

“But I can tell you right away. If you, the principal person, the local government chairman, the governor or the President are not stealing, your family is not, and those around you are not, you will reduce it by 70 per cent,” Obi added.
