A former Governor of Ogun State who is also a top brass in the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, Olusegun Osoba, has said that the National Leader of the party, Bola Tinubu, has the right to contest for the post of president in 2023.
The elderstateman made this remark during a television programme on Tuesday.
Osoba, who is one of the founding members of APC urged the South West to unite and speak in one voice.
He said the South-West must unite and put its home in order to achieve success in the next presidential election, adding that there is an unwritten gentleman’s agreement in APC that the south will fly its banner for 2023 presidential poll.
He added that although, there have been some voices clamoring for APC to shift the 2023 ticket to the south east, but the people from the zone have not shown serious interest.
“Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as an individual has the right to put himself forward, we have not zeroed in on an individual. Zeroing in on any individual will destroy our efforts now but Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has a right to pursue his own agenda,” he said
“As an elder in the party, nobody from the South-East has contacted or consulted me to lobby, to even say they are interested,” Osoba stated.
