2023: Tinubu settled for Muslim-Muslim ticket because opposition is not united- Activist

Social media spaces have continued to beam with barrage of reactions after the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu decided to pick a fellow Muslim, Ibrahim Shettima as his running mate for the next year presidential election.

Before the announcement of Shettima, the former Governor of Lagos had picked one Ibrahim Masari as a placeholders so as to have the enough time to consult widely on how to choose an acceptable running mate.

Shedding light on why he decided to pick Senator Shettima, Tinubu had said that he took the step because of the track record of performance of the former Governor of Borno State, noting that religion or politics show not hamper the progress of Nigeria.

POLITICO.NG had reported that the presidential candidate of the People Democratic Party , Atiku Abubakar had said that it is dangerous for the country to practice the politics of seclusion at this period, most especially when it comes to religion.

Also lending his own voice on the development, a notable human right Activision, Deji Adeyanju, explained why Tinubu opted for a Muslim-Muslim ticket despite the fact that many Nigerians oppose it.

According to the activist, the lack of quality opposition in Nigeria made Tinubu settle for a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Speaking through his Twitter handle , he said: “The reason they can dare such a brazen move of Muslim-Muslim ticket is because they know the opposition is useless and divided. And they will win if the opposition doesn’t heed my wise counsel.

“Tinubu and the APC are saying they don’t give a damn. The message of the Muslim-Muslim ticket is too loud. In fact, they are having a good laugh and with a divided opposition, they will laugh harder in February.”
