Am not working for Tinubu, Buhari, says Osun governorship aspirant

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant for the September governorship election in Osun State, Akin Ogunbiyi, says he has no link to Muhammadu Buhari, the President or Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.

Ogunbiyi dismissed the insinuation on the grounds that Buhari and Tinubu belong to a political platform different from his own.

According to a statement signed by the Director of his campaign directorate, Olalere Fagbola, on Sunday, the PDP aspirant described the claim that he was pro-Buhari and Tinubu as the handiwork of opponents who were “ afraid of the overwhelming support ” he was enjoying in the governorship race.

While recalling that the first time his aspiration was attacked he was labelled a political neophyte trying to reap where he did not sow, Ogunbiyi, however, disclosed that the state Chairman of the PDP, Sola Adagunodo, clarified when he (Adagunodo) affirmed that he (Ogunbiyi) had been among those financing the party and part of the PDP reconciliation process of the past three years.

“Since the political neophyte story failed to fly, the mischief-makers invented the Buhari / Tinubu sponsorship tale.

“Meanwhile, my choice of the PDP as a platform to actualise my dream is informed by my perception of it as the best party and a viable vehicle to deepen democracy in Nigeria. So it is inconceivable for anyone to imagine that I would work against the party which success story I have been part of.

“As a firm believer and a man of strong conviction in my mission to usher in good things of life for the people, no amount of blackmail and character assassination will deter me from my resolve to put Osun State on the front burner of economic recovery.”
