Another lawmaker dumps APC for PDP in Oyo

A member of House of Assembly in Oyo State, Simeon Oyeleke has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC).

It was learnt that he  dumped the APC and joined the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State.

Oyeleke is currently representing Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere State Constituency in state parliament  was elected to represent the constituency in 2019 on the platform of the APC.

The lawmaker has however, announced his defection to the PDP.

He made  announcement on Wednesday few weeks after he failed to secure a return ticket in the APC.

Oyeleke was one of the two APC lawmakers who lost in the 2023 general elections primaries.

The lawmaker, while speaking on Wednesday, said that APC in the State doesn’t have internal democracy.

He said, “I am now a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and no more a member of the APC. This is official now.

“Thousands of my supporters have joined the PDP with me. As a matter of fact, the decision was taken together with my supporters.

“I can’t continue to be in a political party that does not respect democratic tenets and ideals and value my political interest.”
