Defection: Court declines PDP’s request to sack gov Ayade

A Federal High Court has refused the request by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to sack Cross River Governor, Ben Ayade and his deputy, Ivara Esu for defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The epoch-making judgement was delivered on Thursday afternoon by Justice Taiwo Taiwo.

The judge  held that in view of the April 1, 2022 judgment by the Court of Appeal in Enugu, upholding the defection of Ebonyi Governor, David Umahi and his deputy, Kelechi Igwe, he could not hold otherwise.

Justice Taiwo, who held that it would amount to judicial rascality for him not to be bound by a decision of the Court of Appeal, proceeded to dismiss the suit by the PDP.
