Just in: Tinubu finally decides on a Muslim running mate, to brief Buhari – Source

After weeks of waiting and speculations, the former Lagos State Govermor who is also the presidential candidate of  All Progressive Congress, APC for the 2023 presidential election, Bola Tinubu has reportedly decided on whom to choose as his running mate.

It was gathered that a reliable source who works with the Tinubu Campaign Organisation broke the news to NAN on Sunday morning.

The source who pleaded to remain anonymous claimed that the APC national leader would make the name of the person public in this week

According to him, the running mate could be a former Governor from the ruling party and may be a  Senator, probably from the north West geo-political zone of the country.

Despite the concern and the heated debates on the Muslim–Muslim ticket, the source said that the running mate is a Muslim, noting that Tinubu has heeded the advice of the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje to pick a Muslim running mate.

The source told NAN that: “The person is also by accident of birth a Muslim, confirming what Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State said on Saturday that Tinubu had settled for a Muslim-Muslim ticket,’’ the source said.

Speaking further, the source said that Tinubu is not bothered about the outcry of a possible same faith ticket, stating that he is only concerned about performance and competence of the person.

According to him, Tinubu’s desire is to choose a running mate that would key into his vision and has the capacity to work with him in his quest to make Nigeria great.

The source added that Tinubu may visit President Mohammadu Buhari very soon to brief him on the latest development as regards his running mate.

The APC national leader had chosen  Ibrahim Kabiru Masari, as a placeholder for the vice-presidential space so as to meet up with the deadline of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.
