Security has been beefed up at the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) headquarters, in Abuja, ahead of the party’s national convention.
Party faithful, aspirants, delegates, loyalists, journalists and hawkers have swamped the Wadata Plaza, in Wuse area of Abuja.
Stern looking men and women of the various units in the Nigerian Police Force (Special Protection Unit, (SPU), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Bombs Disposal Squad and General Operations Unit, as well as the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were quite visible to maintain security.
The movement of people in and out of the of the party’s headquarters was regulated and restricted.
It gives a vote of confidence of sort to the planning of committee, although a note of caution still needs to be added, so the security forces do not become over-zealous in discharging.
