Peter Obi is the most civil presidential candidate- LP

As stakeholders continue to prepare for the upcoming general elections,a member of the Labour Party (LP) Obi- Datti Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Chris Nwokobia has said party’s supporters, popularly called ‘Obidients’ are victims of a failed government and were demanding a new leadership.

According to him, the level of fierceness expressed by the Obidients in their campaigns as a result of frustrations resulting from several years of bad leadership that had made the state of the country horrendous for majority of citizens.

Speaking during an interview with the press, the convener of the Country First Movement refuted claims that the ‘Obidients’ are unruly in their campaigns with alleged name-calling and attacks on those opposed to their views.

He decried the spate of physical attacks on members of the Obi-Datti movement.

He said the movement since its inception has focused on issue-based discussions rather than taking picks on members of opposition parties. Nwokobia said Labour Party was carrying out its campaigns in organised manner in compliance with the electoral laws guiding campaigns better than other political parties.

“At the core of the demands of the electoral act is for civility and proper comportment of behaviour void of hate speech, ethno-religious sentiments and dealing with issues rather than insulting opponents in the electoral process. Nigerians know that the candidate who have been the most civil is Peter Obi. What the obedient movement is about is to fix our country, reset our politics and deepen the values upon which we contest for elective offices. We have consistently been the victims of attacks and diatribes, but our fierceness is on issues and we will continue to do that until the election is won come 2023,” he said.
