Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki has told the Governors of APC who visited the Governor of Rivers Nyesom Wike that their visit would not yield any fruit.
It will be recalled that three Governors elected on the platform of the ruling party on Friday visited the Rivers State Govermor.
Although, the purpose of the visit was not made known, however, it is an open secret that the reason was to persuade him to join the ruling party, APC in the face of crisis bedeviling the PDP following the victory of Atiku Abubakar at the primary election.
It was also gathered that the Rivers State Governor was not happy with the choice of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta as the running mate of Atiku.
The Governors who visited Wike were Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Dr Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti and Olurotimi Akeredolu of Ondo.
Reacting to the visit while speaking with newsmen in in Ilorin on Saturdays, Senator Saraki said the visit would be in futility because the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would not allow Governor Wike to leave, adding that the opposition party is on top of the situation to put everything right.
He said: “Governor Wike is an important member of our party, and I am very confident that in no distant time we will sit down and address all the issues.
“There is no doubt that he has cause to feel the way he does, but there are better ways by which an issue like this is resolved.
According to him, the main opposition is handling the situation very well and it would ensure that the party wrestle power from APC in the next year general elections
“The good thing is that we are all talking to one another. We are on top of the situation and PDP will reunite and forge ahead to win the next elections,” he added.
