The Supreme Court has dismissed a suit by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking disqualification of President-elect, Tinubu and his Vice President-elect, Kashim Shettima over alleged double nomination.
The Apex court, on Friday, ruled that the PDP lacks the locus Standi to institute the case.
The PDP had claimed that Shettima’s nomination as Tinubu’s running mate on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was in breach of the provisions of sections 29(1), 33, 35, and 84(1)(2) of the Electoral Act, 2022.
According to Justice Adamu Jauro, while reading the Judgement, the opposition party acted as meddlesome Interloper and a busy body, stating that the matter is an internal affair of the APC.
Aside from dismissing the suit for lack in merit, the court also slammed a fine of two million naira against the PDP.
