Tension is brewing in Osun state has the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned Aregbesola to not to step into the state
Aregbesola, the former Governor of the State (2010-2018) who mounted the saddle of leadership of the state through the Appeal Court judgment, dislodging the then Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola of PDP.
Aregbesola is coming to Osun to mark ten years anniversary of progressive governance in the state. What brewed the tension is that the day he fixed for the event, November 27 is the same day Governor Gboyega Oyetola scheduled to mark his two years in office. It is an open secret that both Aregbesola and Oyetola are in cold war at present.
Reacting, PDP said Aregbesola’s presence would forestall breakdown of law and order, stating that Osun people suffered while he was the Governor.
Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Diran Odeyemi urged security personnel to be vigilant that day
Odeyemi said: “What is he coming here to celebrate? Where is MKO International Cargo Airport where over N3billion was spent by Aregbesola? What is good in his administration that Aregbesola leftover N200 billion debt according to the National Bureau of Statistics as at November, 2018 when he left government?
“Aregbesola left 36 months unpaid half salaries to Osun workers and pensioners amounting to N30 billion. Where is Igi Iye project of Bola Ilori that swallowed several billions of Naira? Where is Osunwon Omoluabi introduced by Aregbesola government? Where is Osun helicopter? Why did Aregbesola refuse to pay pensioners their gratuities for eight years?”, he quipped.
