Wike vs Atiku: Ayu should step down for peace to reign- PDP chieftain

A top chieftain of the People Democratic Party PDP, Sam Ohuabunwa, has called on the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, to resign if it will end the ongoing crisis between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

The frontline politician made this statement during an interview session with Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday.

It will be recalled that the PDP Chairman had agreed to resign when he was elected as the party’s Chairman last year if the PDP presidential candidate.emerged from the northern part of the ruling.

However, the Benue State born politician did not honour his pledge to leave the chairmanship seat for a southern candidate.

Reacting to the issue, Ohuabunwa said: “I see him [Ayu] as a man of honour,” Ohuabunwa said.

“If that is what he said, then he should follow the path of honour.

“Even if he didn’t say it, if he is the leader of the party who has brought us to this point, he should make the sacrifice. Do what needs to be done and make sure Nigerians are happy with PDP, members of PDP are happy.

“If he needs to step down for that to happen, he should do so. We need to unify the party.

“This party is bleeding right now,” Ohuabunwa added.
