The All Progressive Congress in the House of Representatives has added another rank to its fold as another lawmaker defected to its group on Wednesday.
Prior to his defection, the lawmaker, Tajudeen Adefisoye representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency of Ondo State, was a member of Social Democratic Party, SDP.
Tajudeen Adefisoye, also known as ‘Small Alhaji’ has officially decamped from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said that he decided to dump his former party over irreconcilable differences, saying that their is strong polarization at its state and national level.
The Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila announced the defection to the house on Wednesday.
In his reactiont, he Minority Leader of the House, Ndudi Elumelu said the letter announcing Adefisoye’s defection should be suspended since the lawmaker was not in the house.
He said: “As provided in the constitution, there is provision for a fair hearing, since he is not around, I think we should step the letter down. He is not here to defend himself, we are not sure he wrote the letter.”
The Speaker replied that there is a “presumption of regularity,”
