Apart from insulting me, APC leaders have no political value in Rivers – Wike

Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike said the All Progressives Congress leaders in the state only gain recognition from the Federal Government by abusing him.

Wike explained that apart from insulting him in the media, the state APC leaders had no political value.

The governor spoke when he received hundreds of APC defectors from Opobo-Nkoro Local Government Area at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

He said, “The only way they (Rivers APC leaders) get recognition from the Federal Government is by insulting Wike. Apart from that, they are finished politically.

“They must tell Rivers people what they have attracted to the state. After two and half years, they are unable to attract any project to the state.”

He said with the level of project delivery in Rivers, it would be difficult for anyone to rig elections in the state.

“You can’t rig election and go free. It is not possible. You want to steal somebody’s vote; anything you see, take it,” he said.

He said the state would hold its local government election in 2018.

Reacting the allegation, a leader of the APC in the state, Darlington Nwauju, said there was nothing wrong if the opposition party in Rivers demanded good governance.

“The governor’s statement is not correct; APC leaders in the state are not insulting him. There is nothing wrong if the APC leaders ask for good governance,” he said.
