Blackmail can’t stop me from my gubernatorial ambition, says Osun Speaker

The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly,  Najeem Salam, has said the blackmail employed against him by some politicians cannot stop him from realising his ambition of becoming the governor of the state after Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

The Speaker said this in Osogbo on Thursday while declaring his governorship intention at the state secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

He said some mischief-makers concocted outright lies against him that he had been paid N250m by a chieftain of the party, Bola Tinubu to forget his ambition and support a certain governorship aspirant.

The Ejigbo-born politician said there was no way he would have come out in full force to declare his ambition if truly he had been paid to drop it.

“They came up with falsehood that I went to Lagos and I was paid to drop my governorship ambition. It is not true. There is no way I would come out this way if I had been paid.

“Would they not ask me the reason behind my declaration if truly I had been paid to drop my ambition? No amount of blackmail can stop me,” he said.
