Govermor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has said that he rejected a senatorial ticket offer from the All Progressive Congress presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu during one of their meetings.
It will be recalled that the the major opposition party, the People Democratic Party PDP has been in internal wranglings since the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate.
The crisis of the main opposition party became worse following the emergence of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as Atiku’s running mate.
Speaking during a press conference on Friday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Governor said that Tinubu offered him the senatorial ticket, but he refused..
According to him, he refused to accept the offer of Tinubu, insisting that he would remain in the PDP despite his anger.
He added that he never contested the primary to settle for a vice-presidential or senatorial ticket under any party.
Wike said, “I didn’t contest so I can become a vice presidential candidate, I am not like others who were not serious and bought senatorial form alongside presidential form and that’s why when Tinubu offered me senate slot, I didn’t go for it.’’
