Voters in Ogudu lament late arrival of electoral materials

Voters in Ogudu area of Kosofe Local Government of Lagos have bemoaned the late arrival of electoral materials by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

It was gathered that voters at Ramat Crescent, Kolawole Ashimi St., Alhaja Abass St., and Buari St., arrived as early as 7am for accreditation and to cast their votes.

In Polling Unit D, Ward 044 located at Ramat Crescent, numbered tags were distributed among residents to ensure orderliness and to ensure individuals vote on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis.

Speaking, a voter Mr Emmanuel Chukwume said “I have been here since 7am thinking that the voting will commence at 8am as stated, this is 8.36am and we cannot see any INEC official.

“It is very unfortunate, it is time that we as Nigerians start doing things the right way.

“If voting is to end at 2pm and no official is around, I wonder if we would be able to vote because a lot of people have been here since 7am,” he said.

Another voter, Mr Christian Ofere said “I think it is quite unfortunate that INEC said that they will be here on time and are not here.

“It is quite appalling, if voting is to end by 2pm and INEC staff are not here, I do not know what to say, it just shows incompetence.

“I intend to wait no matter what time they arrive because I have to do my civic duty,” he said.
