You are wrong in your assessment of security situation in Rivers, Wike blasts Amaechi

The Rivers state government has reacted to claim by former governor, Rotimi Amaechi that the current security situation in the state has worsened under the Nyesom Wike Administration.

The state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Emma Okah, said the former governor was wrong in his analysis of the security situation in the state.

Okah said, “Under his (Amaechi) tenure, people were also being kidnapped and killed. Charles Nsiegbe was killed in Port Harcourt during his tenure. Ignatius Ajuru was killed at that time while Ignatius Kattey, an Archbishop was kidnapped during his Administration.

The Commissioner added: “Security agencies are purely Federal concerns, but the current governor has done everything he could do as a governor to support security agencies by providing equipment and logistics despite provocations from a section of the police.”

Amaechi had in a statement issued by his media office in Port Harcourt, said he had to keep awake for the people of Rivers to sleep all through his time as governor.

“People were being kidnapped and killed everyday,” he said in the statement.
