The re-election campaign of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos, may have started in earnest barely two and half years into the completion of his first tenure.
Commissioner for Home Affairs, Abdullateef AbdulHakeem, said at the weekend that it was imperative to re-elect Ambode to sustain the legacy of continuity in the state.
He spoke at the annual media conference of the Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria, MMPN, held at the Lagos State Secretariat Mosque where he represented the governor.
AbdulHakeem, who delivered an address on the topic, ‘Islam, Muslims and the Nigerian Media’, called for fair representation of Islam in the media even as he dismissed insinuations that the Nigerian constitution was defective.
According to him, there was nothing wrong with the Constitution but the operatives of the system.
The Commissioner assured that the Administration of Ambode would complete all the projects it initiated, saying the governor would not be distracted from religiously implementing the social contract he had with the people of the state.
The Commissioner, who had been in the forefront of championing the re-election of Ambode through his Itesiwaju Eko Social Political Group, insisted that the governor deserved a second term to complete all the mega projects he had initiated.
According to him, it would be suicidal for another person to take over and halt most of the projects the governor started and which had achievable timelines.
