PDP: Fresh suits seek sacking of Deputy National Chairman,Treasurer

Some Peoples Democratic Party’s Chieftains in the South-West zone have filed fresh suits seeking the orders of the Abuja Division of Federal High Court to nullify the election of Yemi Akinwonmi as the Deputy National Chairman (South) and Aribisala Adewale as the National Treasurer of the PDP.

So far, four National Offices of the party filled by elections held during the December 9, 2017 National Convention of the PDP, are being challenged before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The offices are the National Chairman, Deputy National Chairman (South), National Treasurer and the Deputy National Publicity Secretary.

Both Akinwonmi and Adewale, who were part of the nominees of the South-West geopolitical zone of the PDP, had emerged as National Officers of the party at the party’s National Convention held on December 9, 2017.

The suit FHC/ABJ/CS/1285/2017, seeking the removal of Akinwonmi as the Deputy Chairman (South) of the party, was filed by Adebayo Dayo and Semiu Sodipo on behalf of the Executive Committee of the party in Ogun State.

The suit, with the PDP, the Independent National Electoral Commission and Akinwonmi as defendants, prayed the court to order that Akinwonmi be substituted with Segun Seriki.

The other suit, marked, FHC/ABJ/CS/1288/2017, seeking the removal of Adewale as the National Treasurer, was filed by Adewale Adeyanju, who was an aspirant for the position at the December 9, 2017 Convention.
