Coalition explains why Tinubu should succeed Buhari

A group known as the Progressive Minds for Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PMBAT), has pledged to mobilise nationwide to actualize the electoral success of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in 2023.

Speaking after a meeting in Lagos, the group  an umbrella body for 700 support groups, which is working for the emergence of the APC flag bearer, said it is determined to begin a house-to-house campaign for Tinubu.

One of its grand patrons and a three-term member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ifako-Ijaiye, Dayo Saka Fafunmi, said the time has come for all progressives in the country to queue behind the APC presidential flag bearer because of his contributions to the enthronement of democracy in the country.

Fafunmi said all Nigerians, particularly those from the Southwest, must go from house to house and door-to-door to sensitise all eligible and registered voters about the need to vote for the APC candidate.

The lawmaker said the time has come for all members of the coalition to go to the nooks and crannies of their states to sell the party’s candidate.

Fafunmi said he is proud to be a protégé of Asiwaju Tinubu and his school of politics. He said the former Lagos State governor has shown the capacity to lead, as well as discover, nurture and develop talents, who today are holding their own in various strata of society.

He said: “As governor of Lagos between 1999 and 2007, Tinubu took Lagos’ internally generated revenue (IGR) from N600 million to N30 billion within eight years. Today, financial engineering is comfortably raking in N50 billion. Such a man should be trusted to take Nigeria away from the jungle and bring it back to the era of prosperity.”

Fafunmi described Tinubu as a detribalised Nigerian who usually go for talents wherever they could be found anywhere in the country without prejudice. He added that those who are currently profiting from the crisis in the nation would continue to throw in the wedge just to de-market him.

He said the time has come for all Nigerians, irrespective of whatever they hold against the seasoned politician, to forgive and forget if the politician has offended them in one way or another. He added that Tinubu is a notch higher than all the competitors that are jostling for attention ahead of the election, scheduled to hold in February next year.
