Tinubu’s Reconciliation Committee long overdue – Lawan

Senate leader, Ahmad Lawan, has stated that the President Muhammadu Buhari’s reconciliation committee led by Bola Tinubu was long overdue.

Buhari had selected the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tinubu, to reconcile aggrieved party members across the country.

The statement read: “As part of ongoing efforts to improve upon cohesion within the All Progressives Congress, President Muhammadu Buhari has designated Bola Ahmed Tinubu to lead the consultation, reconciliation and confidence building efforts.

“The assignment will involve resolving disagreements among party members, party leadership and political office holders in some states of the federation.”

Speaking to State House correspondents on Friday, the lawmaker said that there was no time to waste in carrying out the assignment, because elections were fast approaching.

Speaking on the committee, Lawan said: “Fantastic. In fact, that committee should have been constituted a long time ago because APC is plagued by some internal issues and I believe that these are issues that are surmountable.

“The Tinubu committee will definitely add value into reconciling the warring sides so to speak. Time is against us, we have to really kick-start these process of reconciliation immediately and I believe that as a family we should be able to come out very much united as we were before.”
